Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are responsible for assisting in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ during the Holy Mass.
This ministry is open to confirmed Catholics who, if married, are married according to the guidelines of the Catholic Church. The ministry requires a great reverence for the Eucharist and the ability to follow specific instructions regarding correct procedures for distribution at Mass. A one-hour training is required during which participants study about the deeper meaning of the Eucharist and learn how to follow the specific procedures for Communion at St. Helena’s.
